Global Witness annual report documents 207 land and environmental activists were killed in 2017 for taking a stand against companies and governments who seize their land and destroyed their forests and polluted their rivers. The report shows a huge rise in killings linked to consumer products. For the first time, agribusiness has surpassed mining as the industry most linked to these murders.
